Frequently asked questions
How do I check if you're available for our date?
The easiest way is to head to my contact page and drop me a message with your date and venue. I'll get back to you as soon as I can to let you know if I'm free and we can go from there!
How far in advance should we book?
Wedding dates can go quickly, especially Saturdays from May through September, so I'd always recommend getting in touch as soon as you've booked your venue. That said, I do sometimes have last minute availability so it's always worth asking even if your date is coming up soon!
What's included in the booking process?
Once you've decided I'm the one for you (yay!), I'll send over a contract for you to sign and an invoice for your booking fee, which is 25% of your total package price. Once both of those are sorted your date is officially locked in. The remaining balance is then due 28 days before your wedding day.
What happens if we need to cancel or postpone?
I totally understand that sometimes life doesn't go to plan. If you need to cancel, your booking fee is non-refundable as it covers the work done and your date being held exclusively for you. Beyond that, it depends on how much notice you're able to give. If you cancel more than three months before your wedding nothing further is due. Between one and three months before, 50% of the total package price is due. If it's less than 28 days before your wedding the full amount is due. If you have wedding insurance, your policy may cover your booking fee and other costs depending on the reason for cancellation, so it's always worth checking. If you need to postpone rather than cancel, get in touch and I'll do my best to accommodate your new date. Please note that a rebooking fee may apply, full details of which are in your contract.
What's your photography style?
My style is relaxed, natural and documentary. I'm there to capture the real moments as they happen, not to direct everyone into stiff poses. I want your photos to feel like you: genuine laughs, stolen glances, the bits in between. Think of me as a friend with a really good camera who just happens to be really good at blending into the background.
Do you do posed shots or is it all candid?
It's a mix of both! While I love capturing those natural, unscripted moments, I'll also gently guide you into positions that feel comfortable and look gorgeous without it ever feeling like a school photo day. Nobody wants to stand in a line saying cheese for two hours, and I promise you won't have to.
Can we see a full wedding gallery before we book?
Absolutely! I think it's really important that you get to see a full wedding gallery before committing to anything. Highlight reels are great but a full gallery shows you how I work across an entire day, from the getting ready nerves right through to the dance floor chaos. Just get in touch and I'll be happy to share some with you.
Do you edit in colour and black and white?
I edit primarily in colour, but most galleries will have a handful of black and white images where it feels right. A quiet moment, a really emotional one, that kind of thing. If you have a preference either way just let me know and I'll keep it in mind!
Do I need a second shooter?
Not necessarily! I'm used to working solo and can cover a huge amount ground on my own. That said, a second shooter can be really valuable if you want simultaneous coverage of the bride and groom getting ready, or if you have a particularly large wedding. A second shooter is included in my Eucalyptus package and can also be added on to any other package. If you're not sure whether you need one, just ask and I'll give you an honest opinion based on your day.
How long do couple portraits take?
I usually keep couple portraits to around 30 minutes. I'm very aware that you've got a room full of people you love and I don't want to whisk you away for the entire drinks reception! That said, if I spot an opportunity later in the day, like a stunning sunset or a beautiful twilight moment, I'll always let you know so we can grab a few more shots. Those ones are often the most magical of the whole day.
Do you do group/family shots?
Absolutely, and I'd always recommend setting aside some time for these straight after the ceremony while everyone is together and still in the same place! I usually suggest keeping group shots to around 10 so we don't spend half the afternoon rounding people up, but if you have more than that in mind just let me know and we can work something out. Before your wedding I'll send you a questionnaire where you can share your group shot list with me so I'm fully prepared on the day. I'll always prioritise anyone with mobility issues or little ones who aren't great at standing still for too long!
Do you travel to venues outside Wiltshire?
Yes! I'm based in Wiltshire but will travel to venues within around two hours of home, covering Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Hampshire, Dorset and Somerset. Travel is included within that, so no nasty surprises on your invoice. If you're not sure whether your venue falls within range just get in touch and I'll let you know!
What should we do if it rains?
My advice? Embrace it! We do live in the UK so I never bank on it being dry. Honestly though, some of my favourite photos have come from overcast or rainy days. The light can be beautiful and it often makes for much more relaxed, intimate portraits than a blazing hot afternoon. I always scout for covered spots at a venue and we can work with whatever the day throws at us. A few umbrellas never hurt either!
Do you need a meal on the day?
I always appreciate being fed but I'd never want you to feel like you have to! If your venue is providing a meal for suppliers I'll gratefully accept it. I like to eat when you eat so that I'm never missing any of the action. I'll always head off to my own space for this rather than joining your guests, which gives me a chance to review images and take a breather before the evening kicks off. If a supplier meal isn't possible, don't worry, I come prepared!
Where do sessions take place?
Most of my family sessions take place outdoors within 20 miles of my home in Wiltshire, whether that's a local woodland, a country park or somewhere that means something to you. I'm happy to suggest locations if you're not sure where to go! The exception is newborn sessions, which I keep indoors in the comfort of your own home so your new arrival stays warm, settled and happy.
What should we wear?
There are no hard and fast rules but I always suggest going for outfits that complement each other rather than matching exactly. Coordinating colours and textures tend to look really lovely in photos without that slightly forced "we all bought the same thing" vibe! Comfort is key too, especially if you've got little ones running around. I'll send you some guidance on this before your session so you've got plenty of time to plan.
What if the kids won't cooperate?
Honestly, don't worry about it! I'm a mum myself so I completely get it. Kids are unpredictable and that's absolutely fine. I never force poses or put pressure on little ones and I find that if we just let them do their thing, the real magic happens naturally. The crying, the running off, the refusing to look at the camera, it all tells a story and some of those unscripted moments make for the best photos. Just come along, enjoy yourselves and leave the rest to me.
What happens if one of us is ill?
Just get in touch as soon as you can and we'll rearrange for another day. There's no point in trying to push through a session when one of you isn't feeling well, it won't be fun for anyone and you deserve photos where everyone is happy and at their best. I'd much rather wait and get it right!
How long does a session last?
Family sessions are one hour, which is plenty of time to get a great variety of shots without pushing little ones past their limits! I find an hour is the sweet spot, long enough to capture loads of lovely moments but short enough that everyone stays happy and nobody melts down in the last ten minutes.
Can we bring our dog?
Yes, as long as they're reasonably well behaved! I love it when pets are included in family sessions but if they spend the whole time bolting off into the distance it can eat into our time together. If your dog is a bit of a free spirit, it's worth bringing someone along whose only job is to wrangle them so we can focus on getting some lovely shots of the whole family together.
Are your sessions just for families?
Not at all! While family sessions are really popular, I also love photographing couples, individuals and groups of friends. There's no limit on numbers either, bring the whole extended family or your entire friendship group if you like! The only thing worth considering with a larger group is whether an hour will feel rushed, so if you're planning something on the bigger side just get in touch and we can have a chat about what will work best for you.
How long will it take to receive our photos?
For weddings, you can expect your gallery within 6 to 8 weeks of your wedding day. For family sessions it's a little quicker, usually around 3 to 4 weeks. You can keep an eye on my editing queue and expected timeline any time through your client area, so you're never left wondering where you are in the queue!
How will we receive our images?
Your photos will be delivered via a private online gallery which you can access any time from any device. From there you can browse, download and share your images as you like. Wedding galleries stay live for one year and family session galleries for six months, so I'd always recommend downloading everything and backing it up somewhere safe as soon as you can!
Who owns the copyright of the photos?
As the photographer, I retain the copyright of all images. What this means in practice is that you have a personal use licence, so you're free to print, share and post your photos to your heart's content. What you can't do is sell them or use them for commercial purposes without my permission. If you have any specific requirements around image use just get in touch and we can chat it through.
Can we share our photos on social media?
Absolutely, please do! I love seeing my photos shared and would always appreciate a tag or a mention if you're happy to. You'll find me on Instagram and Facebook as Libby Clark Photography. The only thing I'd ask is that you don't apply any filters or edits to the images before sharing, as I want them to look their best out in the world!
Do you provide RAW files?
No, I don't provide RAW files. These are the unedited images straight from the camera and my editing is very much part of the service I offer! The gallery you receive will contain fully edited, finished images that are ready to download, print and share.
Can we order prints or albums through you?
Yes! I offer a range of beautiful print products including albums, framed prints and more. There's something really special about having your photos as physical products rather than just living on a screen, and I'd love to help you find something you'll treasure for years to come. Just get in touch or keep an eye out for the details in your gallery!
Are you insured?
Yes! I hold both public liability and professional indemnity insurance, so you can book with complete peace of mind. Many venues require their suppliers to hold public liability insurance as a minimum, so if yours asks for proof just let me know and I'll send it over.
What if something happens to you on the day?
It's not something any of us want to think about but it's a totally fair question! In the unlikely event that I was unable to shoot your wedding due to illness or an emergency, I have a network of trusted photographer contacts I could call on to step in. I would always do everything in my power to make sure your day is covered.
Do you have a sustainability policy?
Yes, and it's something I'm really passionate about! I'm accredited as a sustainable wedding supplier and try to make eco-friendly choices across every aspect of my business, from the products I recommend to the way I work day to day. If sustainability is important to you too, I'd love to chat about how we can make your wedding or session as eco-friendly as possible.
