If you're looking for a Poole, Dorset wedding photographer, Sam and Emma's day is a perfect example of how I work. Ceremony at St Nicholas' Church in Studland, reception at Harbour Heights Hotel in Poole, a quick ferry trip in between, and a wander on the beach to finish. One of those days that reminds you exactly why you love your job.
I should mention, I've known Sam since we were teenagers, so being asked to photograph his wedding was a bit special. No pressure then!

Bridal Prep at Emma's Childhood Home
Bridal prep took place at Emma's childhood home, and it was full of lovely moments. My favourite was the mother of the bride stepping in to make a last-minute adjustment to one of the bridesmaids' outfits. Exactly the kind of candid detail that tells the real story of a wedding day.

A Moving Ceremony at St Nicholas' Church, Studland
During the signing of the register, bridesmaid Fiona gave a stunning acapella performance of The Wonder of You. Partway through, the church choir spontaneously joined in. I may have been blinking back a few happy tears behind my camera. Sam's friend Ben followed it up with a brilliant sax number. Genuinely one of the most moving ceremonies I've photographed.

Reception at Harbour Heights Hotel, Poole
After a quick ferry crossing, we headed to Harbour Heights Hotel in Poole for the reception. Sam is an illustrator, so the table settings and place names were all his own work — beautiful bird illustrations that I absolutely loved. The kind of personal touches that make a wedding feel completely unique.
During the wedding breakfast, I blended into the background and let things unfold naturally, like Emma's grandparents sharing a quiet moment, clearly still completely smitten. The kind of thing you'd never catch if you were doing staged portraits all day.

Beach Portraits and a Poole Dorset Wedding Photographer's Favourite Moment
The couple portraits on the beach were my favourite part of the day. Emma's wedding jewellery was made from beach glass, and her family has a tradition of collecting a piece of glass every time they visit the beach, each one framed with the date and occasion it was found. On their wedding day, Sam and Emma picked up a piece together. Their first as a married couple. Getting to witness and photograph moments like that is why I do this job.
Congratulations, Sam and Emma!
